Smoke Chamber Repair in MA & RI
The smoke chamber is one of the least visible β and most important β parts of your fireplace system. Cracks and deterioration here create real fire and safety risks.
SMOKE CHAMBER
What Is the Smoke Chamber?
Smoke chamber repair available. The smoke chamber is the funnel-shaped area directly above the firebox and damper, below the flue. Its job is to compress and direct rising smoke and combustion gases up and into the flue liner for safe venting outside. Over time, corbeled masonry surfaces develop cracks and gaps that allow combustion gases to escape into surrounding wall cavities β a serious fire and health hazard.
SMOKE CHAMBER PARGING
What Is Smoke Chamber Parging?
Parging is the application of a heat-resistant refractory mortar to the interior walls of the smoke chamber β creating a smooth, sealed surface that covers cracks, fills gaps, and improves draft efficiency. The NFPA recommends that smoke chambers be parged smooth whenever a chimney is swept or inspected and the chamber is found to have an irregular corbeled surface.
